Enhance your anger management worksheets with this tool, helping clients understand and manage stress and anger responses effectively.

The Fight-or-Flight Response worksheet is a crucial tool in your arsenal of anger management worksheets. It helps clients understand their stress and anger responses, providing insight into their triggers and equipping them with techniques to manage these intense emotions effectively.

What the Worksheet Does:

  • Educates clients about the fight-or-flight response, a key component of many anger management worksheets.
  • Encourages self-reflection on stress and anger triggers.
  • Provides practical techniques for calming the nervous system, making it an essential part of any anger management plan.

Why the Worksheet is Essential:

As part of a comprehensive set of anger management worksheets, this tool is essential for helping clients take control of their emotional responses. It empowers them to manage anger and stress more effectively, leading to better emotional regulation and improved well-being.

What is the Fight-or-Flight Response worksheet?

The fight-or-flight response worksheet moves from a short explanation of the sympathetic nervous system to a written plan, in four sections. Section 2 asks the client to log Triggers, Physical Reactions and Emotional Reactions from one real episode. Section 3 then teaches three ways to bring the arousal down.

How to use the Fight-or-Flight Response worksheet

Send this home as homework once one episode has been described aloud, so the client has a concrete event to work from. Section 1 is reading rather than work; do not spend session time on it. Your clients can fill Triggers, Physical Reactions and Emotional Reactions from that single episode instead of from memory in general. Ask for specifics, such as a racing heart in a 3pm meeting, not a line that says stress.
