What is the Money Beliefs & Behaviors Assessment?

The money beliefs & behaviors assessment pairs open questions about money with a rated behavior checklist. It opens with What is your earliest memory of money? and the sentence stem Money is, then asks the client to rate eight habits from Never to Always.

How to use the Money Beliefs & Behaviors Assessment

Use it in session, and take the two halves in that order. The open questions come first. A client who has already rated their behavior will answer What messages did you receive about money growing up? in a way that defends the score. Rate how often you engage in the following behaviors runs from Never to Always and covers budgeting, anxiety, impulse spending and saving. Your clients can then compare their top three scores against what they wrote earlier.
