What is the Using Praise Positive Parenting Skill worksheet?
The Using Praise Positive Parenting skill worksheet is a single-page sheet for parents. It has four parts: Understand the Importance of Praise, Identify Opportunities for Praise, Deliver Effective Praise, and Practice Using Praise. Each part moves from why praise works to wording a parent can say out loud.
How to use the Using Praise Positive Parenting Skill worksheet
Use this sheet both in session and as homework, with the parent rather than the child. In session, rehearse Deliver Effective Praise aloud, replacing a generic Good job with a sentence that names the behavior. Then set the Practice Using Praise log as the week’s task: three specific behaviors noticed each day, and the words used each time. Your clients can bring the Weekly Summary back and read it out.
