What is the Reflections: Communication Skill worksheet?

This communication skills worksheets pdf free download teaches reflections, which the sheet defines as repeating or summarizing what someone said in your own words. Page one supplies opening phrases such as It sounds like you’re feeling, plus a Seek Confirmation step. Page two is a practice log.

How to use the Reflections: Communication Skill worksheet

Use it both in session and as homework. In session, run one round aloud: the client reflects something you have just said, then asks Did I get that right? Correct the additions rather than the wording, since beginners tend to slip in advice. Your clients can take page two into a real conversation, filling Who is the speaker? and Your reflection afterwards. Ask what the reflection changed in the exchange, not whether it sounded natural.
