What is the Letter of Self-Compassion worksheet?
The letter of self-compassion worksheet sets out five steps for writing a self-compassionate letter, then gives a full page for the letter itself. The steps run from Recognize Common Humanity through Acknowledge Your Struggles to Reflect on Strengths and Positives. Page two is blank writing space.
How to use the Letter of Self-Compassion worksheet
Use it both in session and as homework. In session, work through Recognize Common Humanity first, since a client who believes the failure is theirs alone will write a letter that argues rather than comforts. Then draft two or three lines under Acknowledge Your Struggles in the client’s own words. Your clients can write the letter itself at home, on the second page, where there is room to keep going. Ask them to read it aloud at the next session.
